Research Skills 6/10
I'm not really sure how effective my research skills for web design are as I didn't achieve what I hoped to. I feel that I am very persistent which is a strong trait, however, maybe my methods of searching for instance using Google are a little open in scope. I might need to try and tighten what I type into the search engine in order to save time, I also need to know when my search description needs changing instead of trawling through page after page of results.
Contextual Awareness 8/10
I feel that project definitely has a place on the web in the area that I am trying to provide for. There is always space for what are fundamentally fun and collaborative spaces. I feel that idea of the project is similar enough to some fully viable projects already on the net and therefore it can be run alongside them quite happily.
Synthesis Of Research Material 6/10
My research material is useful for anyone that has knowledge of web design , MySQL and PHP. I have laid out my thought processes and steps of action as clearly as possible based on my knowledge and understanding of the programming aspect of this project. I looked at a lot more code and sites than I have documented and therefore maybe my research looks a little thin on the ground.
Critical Analysis Of Subject 8/10
I feel that the subject matter that I have chosen is like any other art project. There may be people who think that art like this takes the skill out of drawing but it is a fun project. My idea isn't supposed to be taken too seriously and I hope that I have made that clear for people visiting my website.
Creativity, Originality & Innovation 8/10
I think it's impossible to come up with an original idea and if you can think of it someone has probably already done it. Having said that I still think that I achieved a degree of originality and all of the similar sites I found during my research didn't undertake the chinese whispers project in quite the same way as I did. My site was more reliant on it's own online drawing area whereas other sites are more reliant on unloading files to the site.
Application Of Theory To Process 5/10
I think a general lack of knowledge in a programming area let me down. I understand the basic theory behind the PHP and mySQL databases working alongside HTML, however, I don't understand enough to make it easy for me to apply the coding successfully.
Technical Development 5/10
I tried really hard to achieve the technical side of this project but I think that the time constraints for me personally were too great to overcome. I'm really pleased that I got my PHP scripting working and for me that was a real achievement.
I find that some of the scripting makes a degree of sense and is quite logical but when it comes to amending the code I find that 9 times out of 10 I can't get it to work properly, maybe I'm missing some fundamental basics that I'm unaware of.
Rationality & Realisation 6/10
Unfortunately I haven't fully realised my project which is a shame and I am disappointed with the outcome. I really felt that this project should have been achievable especially with the drawing interfaces that I had which specifically included PHP and mySQL documents. I think my website looks very smart and effective and I'm please with the overall feel of the experience.
Organisation & Time Planning 7/10
My time planning is reasonably effective. If my programming skills weren't so weak I think my project would have been achieved in the time slot comfortably. I tried to be logical when setting out to work on this project, I knew early on the requirements and when I needed to achieve certain aspects of the project.
Presentation & Documentation 8/10
The presentation of my project is very simple and therefore is effective. I have never really used a blog before to document data and ideas and I think my flow of work is easy to follow and logically for anyone to understand.
